Meet Fatima Abdulghani.
She is currently studying Industrial Engineering and Management at Jacobs University. The majority of her art consists of “Faces”.
– When asked about her best tip on how beginners should draw faces she said:
The best tip I would say is to look at the proportions.
So let’s say you look a the picture, and it’s a picture of a face. So the right way to draw in my opinion, is to first draw one of the eyes, and then check the measurements of the eye and compare the measurements to the rest of the face. And that’s how you know exactly where the nose is, the mouth is… because I think a lot of people know how to draw lips, a nose and eyes separately but they never know how to get the proportions right.
And that’s what really makes a drawing, not the details but the big picture.
– When asked about her least favorite thing about drawing/painting she said:
Hair… Hair… It’s so stressful. You can easily mess it up. Even if the whole face is perfect, one little stroke can mess it up. So I always avoid it or draw blonde hair… I hate drawing brown hair, black hair, it’s so hard.
CHECK OUT HER WORK ON MAY 5TH, AT THE ART FEST EXHIBITION IN THE CAMPUS CINEMA OF JACOBS UNIVERSITY – 8PM.
WE’LL SEE YOU THERE!
